Consultant cardiologist

Dr Richard Watkin is a consultant  cardiologist. He graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1998 (MBChB) and was awarded an MD (University of Birmingham) in 2004 for academic research. He is a full time  cardiologist at University Hospitals BirminghamNHS Foundation trust and is  the Clinical Service Lead. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Clinical and Experimental Medicine and is both a trainer and examiner of undergraduate medical students.


Richard specialises in the evaluation and investigation of breathlessness, chest pain, palpitations and hypertension.
He is one of the UK’s leading operators in renal sympathetic denervation (RDN) for resistant hypertension.
